We are looking for an outgoing candidate that loves bees and wants to learn all about them and help spread our mission of saving bees across the Boston area, while selling our delicious honey and lovely beeswax candles.

We are seeking a Farmers’ Market Sales Associate for the indoor and outdoor farmers’ markets and events that Beverly Bees will be participating in Boston and surrounding areas. This is full time position with work available on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

We save and rescue feral bees, preventing them from being exterminated! We work hard every day to save bees. We work to rescue unwanted nuisance bees from buildings and trees, saving them from extermination. We rehabilitate, care for and maintain these hives in pesticide free locations across Massachusetts where they pollinate our landscape, protecting our environment and local food supply. To date we have saved over 12,000,000 bees!

Responsibilities:

The Farmers’ Market Associate will be responsible for all aspects of market sales and operation. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with our customers, other vendors, and market staff. The position requires a Mid Size vehicle or larger which you will be required to drive. We reimburse mileage.

The Farmers’ Market Associate’s general responsibilities will include: managing customer relationships, market booth set-up and break down, packing for the market and pick up and drop off of tent/tables/product from/to our location in Beverly Farms, MA, market sales & handling of payment transactions, assisting in social media outreach and promotion.

General Requirements:

The Farmers’ Market Associate must be available for one of the following days Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays; be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions; and be able to safely lift and carry at least 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as inter-dependently with market sales staff at markets that require additional sales person.

The ideal candidate will be an advocate of the local food movement and beekeeping/urban agriculture in and around Massachusetts. The Market Associate must be reliable, self-motivated, strong with math, organized and have strong customer service and communication skills.

MARKET OPERATIONS

Arrives at our location in Beverly Farms, MA 2 hours prior to market set up time to load market tent, weights, tables, display/signage and product
Drive to/from market location
Set up market booth in assigned location Includes setting up market tent, weights, table, signs and display. Carefully unpacking product and setting up product display {at any market, complete set up should be completed 30 minutes prior to market open}
Market sales {includes credit card processing, figuring & logging sales tax}
Tracking Product Inventory at beginning and end of market.
Booth breakdown at, and not before, market close {includes carefully packing product into crates so as not to damage during transport and unloading}
Pack up vehicle & return to our location to unload

OUTREACH & MARKETING

Market Associate works with owner to promote our business through social media, contributing to our newsletter, and promotion throughout the community.
Educate customers about the importance of the honeybee to our food system, as well as the value of raw honey and other bee products, and field specific questions from customers.

Assist with the development and coordination of special events including educational programming, tastings and promotional events, and fundraising efforts.
This is a full time position with work hours on the weekends and/or some Thursday afternoons/evenings and could be part time for the right candidate. The ideal candidate would be willing and available to work in product production and packaging/shipping, wholesale account relations, as well as honey harvest as needed.
